Urban Decay Hustle - 30/365

Hello lovies!

For today I have a polish from Urban Decay's Naked Nail Set. It's name is Hustle and yes you are correct if you think that's also a name of shadow from the Naked palette. And very fitting they are similar in color. Hustle in Naked eyeshadow palette is described as a mocha shimmer but it leans more toward the purple tone as does the polish. The polish was extremely smooth and fully opaque in two coats. The only problem is they only come in mini sets.

If the rest of the polishes are as amazing as this I can't wait to try the rest. Look for those in upcoming posts. Have you tried this set yet? I think $26 for this set is a great price point. What do you think? Let me know down below.

OPI The Thrill of Brazil - 29/365

Hello loves!

The Thrill of Brazil is exactly what I think of when I think of a red nail. It's just a shade darker than a true red but absolutely stunning. There is nothing more classic than a red nail. This polish was a one coater which makes it the perfect nail polish.

I think no matter how intricate of nail art you can do, nothing is more elegant than a classic red nail. Do you agree?

Zoya Song - 28/365

Hello lovelies!

Today I have a gorgeous blue for you. If you love blue polishes or just blue in general this polish is a must. Zoya Song is brilliant blue. The formula was on point with two coats for full opacity.

Do you have one color that you are just drawn to that no matter what you always find yourself picking up that same color over and over? Let me know down below.

Camo Nails - 27/365

Hello love doves!

After yesterday's fail, I decided I needed to redeem myself. So I decided to do some nail art. I did a camo design and I am very impressed at how easy it was and how well it turned out. I used China Glaze Kalahari Kiss for the base and then used Essie Sew Psyched, Butter LONDON Teetotal, and Orly Liquid Vinyl for the "spots".

Have you been intimidated by a nail art design only to find out its super simple? Let me know down below!

Running In Shattered Circles - 26/365

Hello loves!

In a time crunch I added OPI Black Shatter over yesterday's Running In Circles and let's say I'm not happy with the turn out. But since you guys are on my year long journey you will eventually have to see some of my nail fails. And here is my first one.

Do you wear your nail fails? Show me some of yours. We all have them! Let me know down below!

China Glaze Running In Circles - 25/365

Hello love doves!

Today I have for you China Glaze's Running In Circles from their recent Cirque Du Soleil World's Away collection. This green is brilliant and beautiful in two quick coats. At first I thought it was too bright but then I found myself constantly staring at my nails and reluctant to take it off.

Do you ever hate a nail color at first but then grow to love it? Let me know down below.

Deborah Lippmann Don't Tell Mama - 24/365

Hello loves!

I wore Deborah Lippmann's Don't Tell Mama today. It is a gorgeous dark grey with fine shimmer in it. It is definitely one of those colors that looks black until it hits the light. I love the depth that these colors have that make them so much more interesting than just a plain black. This is two coats. It went on smooth and had the perfect formula.

Did you know that all of Deborah Lippmann's polishes are song titles? What song would you name a polish after and what would it look like? Let me know down below!

OPI Meet Me On The Star Ferry - 23/365

Hello loves!

Today I wore OPI Meet Me On The Star Ferry. This color is absolutely gorgeous! It is a purple metallic color. This is two coats and it was opaque and no streaks whatsoever.

I got this polish at the Orlando Premiere Show. Have you been to any hair, nail, or cosmetic show? Do you love the great deals you can find at them? Let me know down below!

China Glaze It's A Trap-eze - 22/365

Hello lovelies!

It's A Trap-eze is from China Glaze's Cirque du Soleil Worlds Away collection! It is a translucent white base filled with multi-colored glitter in all different sizes. This is three coats. You can wear whatever amount of coats suits your taste. If like an opaque finish you might want to paint your nails white so that you only have to apply one coat of It's A Trap-eze since it can get thick with all the glitter. However I like the three coats because it give the polish dimension from the glitter peeking through the white jelly.

Do you love glitter polishes but hate to take them off? Try the foil method if you haven't already. Just apply nail polish remover to a cotton pad, place it on top of your nail and wrap your finger in aluminum foil. Let it sit for a few minutes and the glitter should come right off. Let me know how it works for you!

Fancy Nails - 21/365

Hello love doves!

Today I put on my fancy pants and did a tuxedo nail design. Although it would be fitting it is not inspired by Justin Timberlake's new song. I have actually been itching to try this design for a while now so I bit the bullet and tried it out. I really like how it turned out and it was definitely one of the more simple nail art designs I've tried. I used Orly Liquid Vinyl for the black and the white is Zoya Purity. I was very impressed with Purity, it was opaque over the black in one quick coat.

What is on your nail art list? Do you have a list? I think I need to make an inspiration book. I have so many ideas in different places, it would be nice to have them all in one place. I can't decide on an electronic inspiration board or a material one. What do you think? Let me know down below!

Abstract Dot Manicure - 20/365

Hello lovies!

I guess I am sticking with the dot theme today! I tried to repeat a manicure by pshiiit.com and it didn't have the same effect as hers but I still really like it. I used OPI The World Is Not Enough from the Skyfall Collection as the base and then used OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls for the dots. The pictures bring out the pink shimmer in The World Is Not Enough but it looks more grey in person.

I would say dots are one of the easiest nail art techniques out there. What do you use? Do you have dotting tools or do you use a toothpick? What is the most creative thing you have used as a dotting tool?
Let me know down below!

Rosy Dot Manicure - 19/365

Hello loves!

Yesterday I put Essie Limo-Scene on with the intention of adding on to it today. As I almost always do, I saw a picture on Pinterest and decided to use it as inspiration. I added white, rose, and rose gold dots on to this manicure. I started with the white which is Zoya Purity and they were the biggest dots. I then went in with China Glaze Dress Me Up and then added the smallest dots with Color Club Put a Pin in It. I absolutely love the result!

Where do you look for nail art inspiration? I mainly look on Pinterest or Instagram. You can see my Pinterest boards here or you can follow me on Instagram @nailadays.

Essie Limo-Scene - 18/365

Hello love doves!

I said the other day that I didn't care for jelly polishes. However there is an exception (as there always is) white/neutral jellies. I only recently started drooling over them. I have seen so many pictures of them and I find myself lusting for that beautifulness that is in a white jelly. I skipped the OPI NYC Ballet collection (besides Pirouette My Whistle) because they were jellies but now I'm kicking myself for not atleast picking up the mini set. Upon a recent Target trip I picked up Essie Limo-Scene. I planning on adding to it tomorrow for a gorgeous nail art design I saw on Pinterest. It took three coats for the polish to even out for my liking. Limo-Scene has a slight pink tone to it.

I loved the look of this on my nails. I feel like I'm going to be leaning toward the lighter/neutral colors in the next few weeks.

Do you prefer dark or light polishes? Let me know!

OPI Get Your Number - 17/365

Hello lovies!

After debating if I wanted to try another Liquid Sand Formula polish I decided I would give Get Your Number a chance. Now I wish I hadn't. I won't be trying the other two. I can't wait to take this polish off my nails. I feel like my nails look okay from a distance but close up they look like a mess. I love the holographic glitter in this polish and even the color is pretty. I just can't take this crazy formula. I used 3 coats and although it was not tacky to touch quickly after they were painted, the polish was still movable on my nail an hour after being painted. It left me with tips that look worn and gross.

Am I crazy for not liking this formula? Should I try a clear top coat over it since it is a good polish besides the texture? Let me know!

OPI Can't Let Go - 16/365

Hello love doves!

Today I tried out my first Liquid Sand formula polish. I chose Can't Let Go because I had looked at swatches of all the Liquid Sand polishes and this one seemed to be the least like a jelly. I do not like colored jellies. I guess its personal preference but I just don't think they look attractive on the nail. I applied three coats to make sure it was fully opaque. It is a true purple filled with light purple glitter and micro glitter. The texture is not scratchy, its actually smooth in its own way.

I'm sorry that the camera didn't capture the true color of this polish. It is a true purple though.

As for my opinion on the Liquid Sand formula; I am afraid I'm not a big fan of it.

Have you tried the Liquid Sand formula? What do you think about them? Let me know!

OPI A Butterfly Moment - 15/365

Hello loves!

Next on the list from the Mariah Carey OPI Collection is A Butterfly Moment. It is a light pink color with a bronze sheen to it. It reminded me of Orly's Gilded Coral but Gilded Coral has a golden sheen to it. This applied beautifully in two coats. Although I wasn't a fan of Gilded Coral I actually really like this color. Gilded Coral didn't go with my skin tone, its a beautiful color otherwise. This color didn't contrast with my skin color, it actually looked like a feminine neutral on my nails. I would consider this one a perfect business professional color.

You can see the bronze sheen in the second picture.

What do you think of this color? What's your favorite business professional nail color? Do you have a job that requires you to wear work appropriate nail polishes?

OPI Sprung - 14/365

Hello lovies!

Sprung is from the OPI Mariah Carey Collection. It is a beautiful dark copper color packed with beautiful shimmer. It took two coats to be opaque but went on nice and smooth.

Have you tried this polish? What do you think about it? Let me know!

OPI Anti-Bleak - 13/365

Hello lovies!

Yesterday I picked up some polishes from the OPI Mariah Carey Collection so I thought I should try them out today. The first one I picked was Anti-Bleak. It was fully opaque in one thick coat.

What were your picks from this collection?  Have you tried the Liquid Sand Formula yet? I'll admit I'm a bit scared to try them out. I don't think I'm going to be a big fan of them!

Elegant Half Moon Manicure - 12/365

Hello love bugs!

I couldn't take off Beyond Cozy just yet so I went looking on Pinterest for a nail art design that included gold glitter polish as a base. I came across a picture of a half moon manicure with white polish and gold glitter moons.  I thought that since Beyond Cozy is not a true gold I shouldn't go with a stark white and I knew then that a pearlescent white would be perfect to play up the silver toned gold glitter. I used Orly Au Champagne as the other half of this design.

How do you think it turned out? Do you like the half moon look? I adore it!

A quick tip for doing half moons is to use reinforcements (you can get them at any store that sells office and school supplies) as a guide for your half moons. They give you a seamless edge that will make your mani look like perfection.

Essie Beyond Cozy - 11/365

Hello love doves!

Beyond Cozy is from Essie's Winter 2012 Collection. It has a clear base and is filled with silver-toned gold microglitter. It took 4 coats to be opaque on its own but I didn't mind because the result was utterly stunning! It would be great as a top coat to any creme polish as well.

I love the fact this is not an all out gold. Beyond Cozy is the perfect polish for special occasions. It is gorgeous without being too showy.

Do you like subtle gorgeousness or do you want people to grab your hands because they immediately see your polish?

China Glaze Stone Cold - 10/365

Hello lovelies!

I wore China Glaze's Stone Cold from their Hunger Games Collection today. It is a beautiful granite colored matte polish. I absolutely loved wearing it and found myself staring down at my nails all day long. Who knew such a simple polish could be so stunning! This polish was opaque with a single coat and dried very quickly. It's a great polish for a quick manicure. And the matte finish adds something extra that makes your manicure look like you spent more time on it than you actually did.

Do like matte finish or do you prefer shiny goodness? I admit that I prefer a shiny finish but every once in a while I like the cleanness of a matte finish.

Glistening Gradient - 9/365

Hello lovies!

For today's mani I decided to do a manicure I recently did for a friend of mine. We had seen this mani on Pinterest and we both fell in love with it. I didn't have much time to get ready this morning so I decided to add a holographic glitter gradient over Penny Talk from yesterday. It's a quick and easy way to add something special to your manicure. The polish is China Glaze Glistening Snow. It's a gorgeous polish made up of fine holographic micro glitter.

I added Glistening Snow to the tips of my nail with a makeup sponge. A tip for sponging on polishes is to wet the sponge first so the sponge doesn't absorb all the polish and you don't need to use as much.

What do you think of glitter gradients? Have you tried one of your own? Do you find them an easy way to spice up a plain manicure? Let me know!

Essie Penny Talk - 8/365

Hello love doves!

Penny Talk is from Essie's Mirror Metallics collection. When they first came out I wasn't interested in any of them because I felt I had a similar version of all of them. They didn't seem very unique to me. But every time I was in the store I would pick up Penny Talk but always put it back. I heard all the hype about it and finally decided to purchase it to see if it was worth the hype. I am glad I did! Penny Talk is a beautiful copper shade that is fully opaque in one coat. Here I do not have a top coat on because I prefer the satin-like finish of this metallic.

Some have dubbed this as a rose gold but as the name suggests I would definitely consider this a copper tone. The orange undertones are more prominent than the rosey ones. I still love it though.

A good tip for a manicure on the go is a metallic polish. Any one from the Essie Mirror Metallics collection would be a good choice. They only require one coat and dry very quickly and there is no need for a top coat unless you want to keep the polish on for a long period of time.

What do you think? Are you a fan of metallics? What's your favorite finish? Let me know!

What A Stud - 7/365

Hello my lovies!

So I didn't have the heart to take off Perplexed just yet so I decided to add an embellishment today. I recently received my order from the Born Pretty Store and I was excited to try out all the things I got from them so I added some studs on top of Perplexed and this is what I got.

I love the edgy vibe it gives off. I wish I had gone for the gold studs so it would bring out the gold flecks in this polish but I still think it looks good. I'm very happy with the studs. I felt like they were easy to use and were a nice size for my nail. I got the 1.5 mm silver stud rhinestone.

Do you like nail studs? Have you been to the Born Pretty Store? It is definitely worth checking out if you like nail studs! And if you like studded nail art check out The Nailasaurus. She is definitely the stud queen.

Sephora X Perplexed - 6/365

Hello loves!

Today I finally tried one of the polishes from the new Sephora X Collection. I was so excited when they released this collection although I hadn't heard of it until I saw it in store. There were so many colors to choose from and I was weary to buy all the ones I was lusting after because I hadn't heard a thing about them. I didn't know if they were good or bad so I decided to just buy one and try it out myself. I settled on Perplexed because it was one of the most unique and I didn't think I had anything like it in my collection.

Perplexed is a metallic grey packed with fine golden glitter flecks. You can't see the flecks from afar but up close they are very obvious. The flecks make the metallic grey seem almost duochrome. It is an awesome effect. It went on in two coats and although the picture shows some streaks, in real life there were none after it had dried completely.

So it is safe to say I am hooked on this new line of polishes. I am already planning my next purchase! I love how Sephora has categorized them into groups like The Prismatics, The Pearlescents, and so on.

What do you think about the Sephora X Collection? Have you purchased any polishes from the collection? Which are your favorite? Which ones are on your wish list? Let me know!

Deborah Lippmann Ruby Red Slippers - 5/365

Hello lovelys!

It's the freakin' weekend! What are you doing for the first weekend of 2013? I hope you are having tons of fun and making precious memories!

Before Christmas I ordered a couple Mini Duets from Deborah Lippmann when they had a special going on and Ruby Red Slippers was in one of the duets. I couldn't wait to try it. I love the combination of red and black together so I was glad to get my hands on this polish. I applied it over two coats of Orly Liquid Vinyl. It went on nice and smooth. The glitter spread easily but it did need a second coat to make the bigger red glitters stick to the nail.

I absolutely love this polish. It is gorgeous! Deborah Lippmann sure does know how to do glitters!

Do you love DL glitters as much as I do? Do you have any? Are you currently lusting over a certain polish by her? Let me know!

Katherine
